The Crown is getting closer and closer to covering recent events and fans can't wait to see what angle the show takes.
Of course, to make all our dreams come true, they'll need the perfect cast. Certainly, The Crown's casting so far has had not a single miss. The Sun now reports the show is currently looking for the lucky young actress who will portray a young Kate Middleton.
After casting calls went out for a young adult Harry and William, it made sense that Kate wouldn't be far behind. She met Prince William during his time at St. Andrews University. While she won't have a major role in the season's action, many fans are curious to see how the show will portray this part of life in the royal family.
"Having the Duchess of Cambridge starring is an easy win for The Crown, as the creators know it will get more people watching," a source close to the show told the outlet.
"Particularly as it will show her relationship with William just as their romance starts to blossom when they were both students. But since she's not necessarily a crucial part of the storyline, Kate's presence is essentially a bonus, they'll only cast someone if they can find the right candidate."
The call for young William and Harry seeks out actors between the ages of 16 and 20. It's expected an actress for Kate would be between that same age range. Since they were looking for "a strong physical resemblance," it makes sense the same would apply. Of course, Kate's features are striking but common enough among dark-haired English women that finding that right actor isn't out of the realm of possibility.
Shooting for season six, which is expected to be the final in the series, will begin in August 2022. Fans are eager to see how William and Kate's early relationship may be portrayed. Depending who you hear the story from, Kate was anywhere from mildly interested to entirely infatuated with William before she caught his eye.
Of course, there's also the infamous charity fashion show where Kate got William's attention in a see-through nightie-style dress.
The royals didn't take well to the invasion of Kate's privacy during those days (though they didn't do much to stop it either), but it did result in some unforgettable moment we'd love to see The Crown tackle. Remember the lipstick photos of questionable authenticity? If there's context to this moment, I need to see it on my screen.
