Sometimes, Cupid strikes in the most unlikely of places … like at your best friend's son's primary school.
Prince William's best friend, Thomas Van Straubenzee, is engaged to a teacher who works at Prince George's school in London. It's not clear how the two of them met, but whatever the story is, it's gotta be a cute one.
William and Thomas go wayyy back. Their families are quite intertwined — William's brother and Thomas' brother are also BFFs.
Thomas proposed to Lucy Lanigan-O'Keeffe, who happens to be the assistant head teacher at Thomas's Battersea in London, where Prince George goes to school. Princess Charlotte will also start school there soon.
A source told the Sunday Times that "nobody would be surprised if Prince William or his wife, Kate, were involved" in introducing them.
But! Prince George is basically the reason for this happy ending, because if he didn't attend school there, they likely would never have met. Accordingly, he and Princess Charlotte will play important roles in the wedding.
Thomas Van Straubenzee and Prince William have been friends for years. Thomas is one of William's oldest friends.
Thomas' brother Charlie is BFFs with William's brother, Prince Harry. All four of them attended Berkshire's Ludgrove School together.
Thomas and Charlie's other brother, Henry, died in a tragic car crash at 18; Harry and William are patrons of his memorial fund.
Thomas is such a special friend of William's that he was chosen to be godfather to 4-year-old Princess Charlotte.
Soon, Thomas' ties to the royal family will grow even tighter. He's engaged to marry a teacher at Prince George's school, Thomas's Battersea in London.
The teacher, Lucy Lanigan-O'Keeffe, is an assistant head teacher at the school. She also teaches outdoor learning and mindfulness.
It's not clear exactly how Thomas and Lucy ended up meeting and falling in love. But the Sunday Times reports that "nobody would be surprised if Prince William or his wife, Kate, were involved."
Apparently, those two like to play matchmaker!
Or, hey, maybe Prince George himself was involved in a Parent Trap-esque meet-cute? Who's going to write this movie?!
Few details for the wedding have been confirmed yet; no date or venue has been announced. However, there are a few facts to glean so far.
First, Prince William will reportedly serve as an usher for the wedding. Thomas and Charlie previously served as ushers for Harry's and William's weddings.
Also, this is Thomas' second wedding — he was married to Lady Melissa Percy in 2013 (they divorced three years later). William served as an usher for that wedding, too.
This time, though, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will also play a role in Thomas' nuptials.
Prince George will be the pageboy, and Princess Charlotte will be a bridesmaid.
Princess Charlotte is scheduled to begin attending Thomas's Battersea in the fall.
Luckily, George and Charlotte have had plenty of practice with being in weddings. They've acted as pageboy and bridesmaid in a total of four weddings previously.
They've been in two royal weddings. They participated in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding last May, as well as Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding later that year.
They also played the same roles for their parents' friends Sophie Carter and Robert Snuggs, as well as Kate's sister Pippa Middleton and James Matthews.
So they've pretty much got the adorable pageboy/bridesmaid thing down to a science at this point.
Meanwhile, Charlie is rumored to be a contender for Harry's baby's godfather! However, Charlie's not likely to marry some future teacher of little Archie's, as he's already tied the knot.
