America Ferrera Says She Cried When She Met Leonardo DiCaprio, Embarrassing Her Husband

America Ferrera is proof that being famous doesn't necessarily stop you from feeling starstruck sometimes. Speaking with Seth Meyers on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the Oscar-nominated actress admitted that her reaction to meeting Leonardo DiCaprio embarrassed her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, who was her boyfriend at the time. In 2007, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, America won an award for Ugly Betty and "had been on stage and the whole thing," she explained, which might make it seem like she was feeling confident and in her element.

However, it didn't stop her from crying after she said "hello" to Leonardo DiCaprio. "And I promptly departed [from] him, went around the corner and just started weeping," she explained on the show.

She said her husband (then-boyfriend) was "so embarrassed" and told her to "stop crying."

Though America has been in show business for a while, she admitted that the same starstruck feeling she experienced with Leonardo DiCaprio can "sneak up on you." She added that it's usually because of a celebrity she had a "childhood connection" with.

This may explain why she "weeped" when she saw Leonardo DiCaprio.

"I watched Titanic in the movie theaters seven times. [I was] 13, 14 [years old], prime time to be in love with Leonardo DiCaprio, right?" she said.

Still, she joked that she "[hopes] Leonardo DiCaprio never sees this."
