Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have one of the most enduring love stories. The two have been married for 27 years and have raised three children together, and they both have incredibly accomplished careers to be proud of.
When a couple has been together for so long, lots of people want to know what the secret is — especially when that couple has been dissected by the public for the entire time. Luckily, Tim McGraw recently offered insight into how the pair have made it work for so long.
Tim and Faith were back in the spotlight a few years ago because the two were playing a husband-and-wife team in the Yellowstone prequel, 1883. They made a load of media rounds and eventually stopped by People magazine to chat about all things related to the show, music, and, of course, their marriage.
While speaking about what they have been through together, Tim revealed the secret to their marriage: "We made a commitment to each other a long time ago that we're not going to give up. It's too easy to give up."
Tim also says that they both look back on their years with a lot of gratitude. He explained, "We just feel fortunate and blessed and grateful for our kids and all the things we've gone through, the ups and downs."
Faith had recently lost her father, and in the interview she opened up about what that experience was like: "It was a long passing. It's difficult to lose parents just a couple of years apart and watch them pass right in front of you. My dad had Lewy body dementia and it was difficult to watch a man you know be someone that you don't recognize."
Her husband was a huge part of making that experience easier. "My dad adored Tim and Tim would visit him daily," she explains. "He was so present for the passing of both my parents. You reveal yourself when you are going through struggles and that's just another layer of partnership."
Faith echoes what Tim said about what really makes their marriage work. As she puts it, loving someone means supporting them all the way, all the time: "When you love someone, you commit to be there for them for the highs, the lows, anytime."
