It is so difficult when a kid is sick. As a parent, it can be overwhelming and scary. Actor Tori Spelling recently found herself in this situation. Her 14-year-old daughter, Stella, was recently hospitalized.
Tori took to Instagram to give an update on Stella’s condition. Stella was diagnosed with a rare form of migraine called hemiplegic migraine, which mainly impacts one side of the body. Tori, who suffers from migraines herself, was so happy and thankful to have answers.
“I wanted to thank everyone for all the well-wishes for Stella. She is home and feeling much better. At the ER she was diagnosed with a hemiplegic migraine. It’s a condition that affects one side of the body," Tori began.
“Signs of a hemiplegic migraine attack are similar to what would be presented in a stroke that typically includes sudden severe headache on one side of the brain, weakness, and numbness on one half of the body. It can be terrifying if you don’t know what’s happening or about this type of Migraine. As a Migraine sufferer my entire life I had no idea about this,” Tori continued.
Tori also took the time to express her thankfulness to her daughter’s medical team. “Grateful to everyone in the ER. They were amazing and took great loving care of her,” Tori concluded.
Tori revealed on Instagram on January 11, 2023, that Stella was in the hospital. This came right after Tori had her own health scare. She posted a photo on Instagram stories of Stella in a hospital bed with the caption “the hits just keep coming.”
In December of 2022 Tori was admitted to the hospital herself. Just before the holidays, she experienced synonyms such as struggling to breathe, “high blood pressure and crazy dizziness.” Tori posted a selfie in a hospital bed to address the situation.
“Here I am in [the] hospital since late last night. To all of you who gaslit me when you were told I [was] too sick to work, well, here I am,” Tori began. She did not want anyone to doubt her.
Tori went on to say, “How about next time [you] take someone at face value and show kindness instead of doubtfulness. Remember, for people like me, NOT working is a nightmare. I’m a hustler and a workaholic. I always choose work,” she concluded.
Tori and husband Dean McDermott share five children: Stella, Liam, Hattie, Finn, and Beau. Dean also has children from a previous marriage to Mary Jo Eustace. A son named Jack and a daughter named Lola, whom he was supposed to adopt but opted not to once his marriage with Mary Jo dissolved.
Tori acknowledges that having a large family is not always easy. "It's all about teamwork. Their dad and I split it up and it works out. But it's a lot. As long as they're happy, they're healthy, they're loved, at the end of the day, I'm like, 'Okay. Some things fell through the cracks. We didn't get everything done. Tomorrow's a new day,' " she told People.
