Vanessa Lachey made headlines for some candid comments on her own relationship while hosting her and husband Nick Lachey's Netflix series, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.
During an episode of the reality series, which follows six couples who will either get married or break up for good after the show's events, Vanessa recalled struggles she and Nick faced in the early days of their relationship.

Nick and Vanessa had gotten to know each other over the years through video shoots and her time as a VJ on TRL. She also knew his then-wife, Jessica Simpson. Nick and Jessica divorced in late 2005. In 2006, Vanessa and Nick reconnected on the shoot for his video for "What's Left of Me."
Vanessa remembered people being less than kind about her role in Nick's life after they started dating.
"He was literally in a very public marriage and a very public divorce, and I had to go through all that [expletive] very publicly and it was very hard for us," she recalled.
That outside pressure did bring the two closer together.
"It wasn't until the moment that he was like, 'I'm gonna let it go,' and I said, 'I'm gonna let it go,' and we truly committed to each other," she explained.
"We literally fell deeper and harder than we ever could."
On the show, Vanessa also reveals she gave Nick an ultimatum after five years of dating. The two ended up taking a break, each dating one other person during the time. Then, they realized they both really wanted each other.
"We both saw one other person and we realized that if we got out of our own way, we could be amazing together," she says in a clip.
"But it took seeing somebody else and me realizing I don't mind the things that I thought bugged me or were holding me back. I don't mind all that. Like, the bigger picture is how I feel about this person and their values of wanting to be with me and knowing everything about me."
Nick and Vanessa got married in 2011. They share three children: 11-year-old son Camden, 9-year-old daughter Brooklyn, and 7-year-old son Phoenix.
