Liam Reid was just six days away from his wedding with his bride Jimena Vergara-Lincoqueo when he was struck by a car while riding his bike home.
The car cut him off and they collided. "I was probably doing 25mph on a push bike," Liam explained. "I clattered into him and put a big dent in his van."
While Liam thought his left leg was alright, he would soon come to find out by doctors that it was broken. "I was told I might not be able to walk," Liam said.
Scared that they'd have to cancel the wedding, Liam made it his mission to heal enough that it could still happen.
His operation lasted seven long hours and the groom-to-be was given a to-do list to prove that he was ready to leave the hospital and keep the nuptuals as planned.
Miraculously, Liam impressed his doctors enough that they let him out of the hospital for his wedding. While they had to make new arrangements for their honeymoon, Liam and his bride were able to get married.
But instead of meeting his bride at the altar, she pushed him down the aisle in his wheelchair.

Liam Reid, 32, was six days away from tying the knot with the love of his life, Jimena Vergara-Lincoqueo, 30, when he got into an accident.
Liam was riding his bike home from work when a car that had cut him off struck him.
"He [the driver] was turning right against the traffic and gave me about 10 feet of stopping distance," Liam said.
"I laid on the floor looking down at my leg thinking I've got away with that because everything was pointing in the right direction, or so I thought."
But things were much worse than he thought.
The groom-to-be was admitted to the hospital where doctors revealed he broke his leg in two places. He would also need a blood transfusion.
They said if it wasn't for the passerby who helped him after the accident, he could have been dead.
Doctors operated on Liam and bandaged him up but they gave him some devastating news.
"We brought up the fact that we were getting married in six days, but were told in the nicest way possible that it wouldn't be possible for the wedding to go ahead," Liam said.
"We had spent years planning it and a lot of money. I was determined that no matter what they said I was going to take my bride down the aisle."
Miraculously, things started to look up for the couple and they wouldn't have to cancel the wedding.
With only days to spare, Liam received the green light to proceed with the wedding. "On Saturday morning, it was confirmed that I was allowed to get married, with the agreement that I needed to come back the next day for further help," he explained.
Instead of waiting for his bride at the end of the aisle, she was able to push him down it instead at their Boston, Lincolnshire, England wedding.
Jimena's mother also altered his suit so that he could still wear it to the wedding.
The wedding went ahead as planned and the couple looked happier than ever.
"The first time I had sat in a wheelchair in my life was being pushed back down the aisle by Jimena," he said.
With his own determination and the help of doctors and nurses, Liam was able to enjoy their special wedding.
"One nurse called me 'Mr. Groom' all week which meant a lot, as it gave me confidence," he said.
While they had to cancel their honeymoon to go back to the hospital, Liam and his bride were relieved that their wedding was a success.
Things may not have gone exactly how they had planned, but if the couple can get through this, they can get through anything!
