Losing your purse is one of the most stressful things that can happen to a woman. After a few days, though, you generally have to accept that your valuables are gone forever. That's what happened to Martha Ina Ingham — 65 years ago.
Martha was still in high school when she lost her handbag in 1954. Now in her 80s, it's hard to imagine that Martha, who goes by "Marty," has even thought about this purse in decades. But as it turns out, it was there at school all along.
Construction crews were in the middle of demolishing Jeffersonville High School in Indiana when they came across Marty's handbag with her ID in it.
They took to social media to attempt to track the purse's owner down, writing, "Lost and Found Alert: Martha Ina Ingham's handbag from 1954 has been found in the demolition. We would love to return it to her or her family!"
One of Marty's relatives saw the post and let her know. The crew mailed the purse all the way to Florida, where it was reunited with its owner at long last.
"It brings back a lot of memories and a lot of people I haven't heard of in a long time," Marty told Inside Edition. "What a good time we had in high school."
