Goldie Hawn Is Set To Become A Grandmother Again As Family Celebrates Wyatt Russell’s First Baby

Despite the uncertainty of this year, plenty of people are still having babies. And, it's always a good reminder that there's still plenty of positivity in the world. The most recent announcement was Wyatt Russell, otherwise known as the brother of Kate Hudson. Born in 1986 to Hollywood It-Couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Wyatt was set for a career in sports until he started turning towards film projects.

In fact, it was on the set of the comedy Folk Hero & Funny Guy where Wyatt met his wife, Meredith Hagner. The two got married in September of 2019 and wasted no time trying to start a family.

Meredith is actually Wyatt's second wife. In 2012, he married stylist Sanne Hamers. But, the relationship didn't last, and they called it quits a few years later.

Meredith is known best for her role on the soap opera As the World Turns. She was on the show until 2010, playing the role of Liberty Ciccone. The role actually earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. These days, she's working on the series Search Party.

The news was announced by the one and only Kate Hudson, Wyatt's older sister. On Instagram, she posted a photo of Meredith and her baby bump.

"Celebrating our next family member today First for my bro Wy and @merediththeweasel We are over the moon and can't wait!!!! ," Kate wrote on Instagram. What followed were plenty of supportive comments, including an "Ahhhhhhhh" from comedian and mom Amy Schumer, and a row of hearts from Oliver Hudson, Kate's other brother.

Kate gave birth to a baby girl not too long ago, so it's possible that she's been giving Meredith some motherhood pointers. Baby Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa was born near the end of 2018, and she's Kate's third child, making Kate a pro. No matter what, it's good to know that Rani will have a cousin somewhat close to her in age.

While becoming an actor seemed like an obvious path for Wyatt, he admits he somewhat fell into it. But he never really dreamed of being as successful as his parents. "Wanting to become an actor comes with things," he told Thrillist back in 2018. "Money, success, fame, privilege. But all I was really looking to do was to be satisfied with whatever work I was going to end up doing. I just thought, 'If I can scrounge up enough work to make a good enough living to at least stay in this three-bedroom apartment with my two best friends in Marina del Rey, that's pretty good!'"

"I didn't put too much pressure on myself," he admitted. "Maybe some people do, to be successful, or whatever that is. But I can't complain. It's been fantastic." Of course, having the last name of Russell definitely must have helped him gain a little bit of interest from casting directors.

Meredith Hagner's path toward Hollywood was a little different. She started out in community theater before taking on work as an extra. From there, she enrolled in acting school to improve her skills. She was influenced by women like Dolly Parton and Gilda Radner during that time. She remains grateful for the opportunities she was given growing up.

"I'm really grateful for the opportunities I've been given and the luck of having been born in the place that I was born, with the advantages that I have," she told Issue magazine. "I'm very lucky." That interview also proved she's an optimist, as she stated that her future likely contained a "series of really happy days."

Meredith and Wyatt also proved the importance of family by getting married at mom Goldie Hawn's residence in Aspen, Colorado. According to People magazine, the wedding was themed like a western — which is a theme you rarely see at weddings. Both the bride and groom surprised guests by wearing cowboy hats and navy blue shirts.

Meredith made note of Wyatt's proposal on Instagram, reportedly saying, "The love of my dang life proposed to me. He is the best guy in the world. It was an epic surprise surrounded by our closest family and I would give the proposal 5 stars on yelp!!!!!"

Wyatt should have no issues being a dad, because he's been a loving uncle to six nieces and nephews. Aside from Rani Rose, Kate Hudson also has children Ryder and Bingham. Oliver Hudson also has three children — Wilder, Bohdi, and Rio.

And he's a big fan of all of them. According to People, he once told the publication, "We get to go on vacations and stuff in the summer and be able to see each other and hang out." He added, "It's funny. From 35 to 37 nothing changes but the 12 to 14-year-olds, a lot changes so you want to be there as much as possible. I just try to spend as much quality time with them as I can."

Colorado isn't just the state where Wyatt and Meredith got married. It's also the state where Wyatt proposed, proving that it holds a lot of memories for the young couple. As Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell often used the Aspen house for vacations, it's possible that Wyatt and Meredith will also bring their child over to create memories.

While the couple has yet to announce whether or not they're having a boy or a girl, fans may speculate that it's a boy. Reason being, the picture posted by Kate included bunches of blue balloons. No matter what, this baby is quite lucky to be born into such a talented and loving family.

Even having Goldie Hawn as a grandmother must be such an honor. According to Kate, she's excellent at the role. She goes by the grandmother name of "Gogo," which has a very intriguing backstory. Supposedly, Goldie didn't want to be "Grandma" after her first grandchild, Ryder, was born.

"Gogo" was a nickname her aunt thought up for her back in the day, so she thought it'd make a great name for a grandmother. And luckily, it stuck. So she's probably just as thrilled as Kate is that she gets to be "Gogo" for Wyatt's new baby. And with all of her experience already, she'll also make an excellent go-to babysitter!
