This DIY-er Creates A Unique Coffee Table By Stacking Wood

In the past, we've witnessed many DIY-ers and at-home crafters ambitiously create functional items out of near-worthless materials.

Many creative DIY projects make great use of upcycling these materials, often inventing a new and brilliant use for them. One DIY-er, for example, even tore up his 102-year-old floorboards to make a stunning dining room table.

Below, genius DIY-er, craftsman, and Imgur user Bernforever collected a pile of scrap wood from his workplace, and took them home to mold into a most peculiar piece of furniture.

From the beginning, he had a clear idea of what he wanted to make — a coffee table, but one that was unconventional and, well, a little jagged around the corners.

The process became difficult at times, because he didn't have all the right tools at his disposal. But just wait til you see the finished product… it's marvelous!

Imgur user Bernforever decided to use pieces of scrap wood to craft a custom-made, innovative coffee table. He wanted to do something with all the wood that they throw away at work, but also had limited space and tools at home.

First, he rummaged through wood bins at work, and fished out strips of wood measuring 1 1/2 inches. These strips were milled out of walnut, mahogany, and cedar woods.

After sanding down the wood, he cut the pieces to size. Using a cordless nailer, he shaped the wood and continued to glue and clamp down the pieces.

He went for quite an interesting aesthetic, by cutting the corner pieces to random lengths, and nailing them together.

At one point, his DIY project began to look like a game of Jenga!

In the end, all the pieces lined up pretty well, despite being uneven in length and assembly.

At this point, it might look pretty confusing. One side of the table is completely boarded up, making a surface. But what about the other side?

Not to worry — in the end, the finished product could fully stand on all of its funny, jagged feet.

After the table was given one last good sanding, he threw on some lacquer thinner.

Then, he topped it all off with some Danish Oil, and covered it in a coat of polyurethane for protection.

Here's the finished product, all propped up in the living room! Looking pretty sleek, don't you think?

As a joke, he photoshopped a picture of the coffee table into Ellen Degeneres' talk show studio, calling this feature his 'dream.' Hopefully, his furniture will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show one day!
