Wedge Thumb Into Row Of Corn Kernels, Then Twist Wrist To Clean Entire Cob Perfectly

Corn on the cob is the type of food that just screams summer. While I'd argue that it's good anytime of the year, there's something special about husking corn in the backyard on a warm evening.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy corn. You can grill, boil it, or even put it in a pasta salad. As much as everyone loves eating it straight off the cob, no one likes getting kernels in their teeth.

The most simple solution for this is to cut the corn off the cob with a knife, but oftentimes, you end up wasting half the kernels. Or if you're me, nicking yourself with a sharp blade.

When a hack for separating corn from the cob was tweeted in Japan, corn fans all over the world listened.

Thanks to some innovative thinkers in Japan, we can enjoy a future full of corn in our bellies, instead of in our pearly whites.

Step #1: Cook The Corn

The first step to this hack involves cooking the corn to your liking.

You can do this on the grill, in a pot, in the oven, in the microwave, or however your heart desires.

Step #2: Cut Corn And Create Gap

Since this hack uses your hands, it's best to cut the corn in half so it can be an easy hand-held size.

Next, create a gap the size of a row or two in your piece. You can do this with your hands or with a knife.

Step #3: Place Your Thumb In The Gap

Your thumb is going to act like a peeler. Place your thumb in the gap and prepare to be amazed!

Step #4: Peel

Peel out the rest of the rows of corn by sweeping your thumb across the cob, pulling at the root of the kernels with your finger.

Step #5: Pull Row Away

If you're doing it right, your kernels should come out like this, whole and in all their glory.

If you continue, you'll empty the whole cob cleanly.

Step #6: Strip Corn Clean

Unlike a cob with kernels separated with a knife, your cob will look completely carved out and frankly, almost sponge-like.

Step #7: Enjoy!

Now that you have whole kernels ready to eat, it's time to slather on the butter and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

After you're done snacking on your corn, enjoy the fact that you aren't stuck picking corn shards from your teeth!
