Soldiers do so much for this country every single day and put everything on the line to protect our freedom. That’s why it’s always so gratifying to see a veteran honored for his or her heroism.
This is doubly true in the case of Cpl. Todd Love, a former Marine living in Dallas, GA. Now retired from the service, Love fills his time with hobbies like skydiving, surfing, and wrestling gators. But all of this is made much more complicated by the injuries he sustained overseas.
Cpl. Love lost both legs and his left arm to an IED while serving in Afghanistan in 2010. But, like fellow amputee Noah Galloway, he hasn’t let that damage his strong and adventurous spirit. And it’s not just extreme sports — Love recently embarked on his newest project: first-time homeowner.
He’s been living in a specially-designed ‘smart home’ for a little over a year now, courtesy of the ‘Building For America’s Bravest’ project. Like the ‘Homecoming Heroes’ program that provided for this vet, ‘America’s Bravest’ is dedicated to giving former soldiers a comfortable environment.
Thanks to collaboration with Home Depot and various charities, volunteers were able to create an iPad-controlled space to make Cpl. Love’s life a bit easier.
The home features a laundry-list of accessibility add-ons, including motorized entryways, automated toilets, and multi-room intercom. All of this will help Cpl. Love settle comfortably into his new home.
With any luck, his convenient new gadgets will just make extra time for him to plan his next adventure! Says Love, “I can do anything I want. If I want to go become an…astronaut, who’s gonna stop me?”
He certainly won’t get any argument from us!
