Husband And Wife Replace Their Old Shed With Something Beautiful

When it comes to backyard features, I'm not a very picky person. Just give me a nice privacy fence, a shaded hammock, and a glass of tea, and I'll be good to go!

But when some people look into their backyards, they see more than just a simple square of grass. They picture beautiful sheds, trickling fountains, and crackling fire pits. But they're not just content with simply picturing these splendid outdoor features; they want to build them.

And thankfully for unimaginative people like me, these crafty folks typically make beautiful do-it-yourself tutorials — like the simply amazing gallery you're about to see!

But unlike many other backyard renovations I've seen, this particular tutorial is hilariously down-to-earth. This crafty couple was happy to not only confess their mistakes, but document and mock them.

Because after all, we're all human, and we all make silly mistakes. That's half the fun of life, right?

When Imgur user TorbenBusk and his wife looked at the rotten, ugly, leaking shed in their backyard, they knew it was finally time to do something about it.

With some essential supplies and a great sense of humor, the two got to work on their dilapidated shed.

Looking at the crumbling state of it, TorbenBusk was sure it was going to be a breeze taking it apart.

He was so sure, in fact, that he didn't think tools would even be necessary. He decided to give his raw strength a try.

"Oh my, he's gonna break something," TorbenBusk narrated for his wife in the photo's caption.

When the shed proved sturdier than they anticipated, they had to break out the power tools and get to work. "Here I elegantly explain how the door could be disassembled," he jokingly wrote.

"Everything is more fun, when you are two," he wrote.

After finally tearing down the eyesore of a shed, they ran into a slight issue: A cemented iron post that was simply too heavy for TorbenBusk to move.

So he had to come up with a brilliant solution. Instead of breaking his back trying to move it, he would bury it instead!

"A brief Jimmy Hoffa job here," he wrote.

Next, it was time to lay the electrical lines. "It looks easy, but is actually quite hard for this slightly overweight and pale man."

You can hardly see where the line was buried.

Next, it was time to lay the sand and start leveling it out.

He laid the foundation with tiles he got for free from Craigslist.

They begin to build the shed's structure. His wife instructs him to leave the witch hazel tree where it is, as it's part of the design.

They build the joists that will support the roof panels.

They opt for transparent panels to let the sunshine in.

TorbenBusk wrote that this little mistake wasn't his proudest moment. "Sometimes when drawing these things, you have to think ahead."

But they cleverly solved the problem and moved forward.

Their windows were found in a scrapyard — but they weren't the right color, so they worked to remove the old paint. However, much to his wife's dismay, TorbenBusk later dropped the windows and shattered them... Despite this, they trucked forward.

Next came the metal gutters and downpipes. They went with galvanized metal to save on money.

And voila! The final product. Part terrace, part shed, this exquisite little structure is quite the improvement from the old one. Windows or no, it's the perfect place to garden, sip tea, or take a nice midday nap. Wouldn't you love this in your ow
