That's why this shocking home immediately caught my eye. I've seen a lot of stunning renovations, but nothing quite as dramatic as this Californian home's shocking makeover.
When its last owners purchased it in the '60s, this Spanish Revival home was already in terrible shape. But after years of further neglect, this crumbling house was ready for the wrecking crew.
But now, after a little reconfiguration and a lot of hard work, what was once just a dilapidated shack is now a stunning home — one that anyone, myself included, would be proud to live in.

For more than 90 years, this once gorgeous home in Los Feliz, CA had been badly neglected. When it was purchased in the 1960s, it was in such poor condition that it sold for only $16,000 — and the condition only worsened from there.
Today, it's back on the market again, and its Spanish Revival style is coveted by local residents — but the home was in such poor shape, it seemed more worthy of being torn down.
Previously owned by residents with hoarding behavior, the home was filled with piles of belongings and garbage — all of which was unfortunately left behind.
While it was occupied, the city had placed many code violations on the home, but it remained an eyesore to the neighborhood for years and years.
Every inch of the home was filled with filth and mold, eating away at the original details of the home. The structure was in a very dangerous state.
The floors of the home were so rotted, the ground-level bathtub had actually fallen through and crashed to the basement below.
When the Kenihan Development company came across it, they knew it would be a huge undertaking. The home was in the worst condition of any they'd ever purchased.
But after reconfiguring the layout and getting to work, the home underwent a truly magical transformation…
Once construction was complete, it was hard to believe this was the same home... This once dilapidated shell was now a sparkling Spanish retreat! But if you think the outside is unrecognizable, wait until you step within...
Even if I hadn't seen the "before" images, I'd fall in love with this home. It has such flair and charm!
The cathedral ceilings, dark hardwood floors, and yawning windows make for a very striking and dramatic interior.
According to Kenihan Development, the home's original layout was very strange. Now, the space flows beautifully from one room to the next.
Before, the trash and debris were piled five feet off the floor, making it impossible to navigate...
Now, the home twinkles with freshness and open space.
The developers also stayed true to the original fixtures and style of the home.
"Our goal is to deliver a comfortable modern home," they write on their website. "One that will mesh with the existing fabric of the neighborhood."
Marrying modern trendiness with traditional charm, this house would make a stunning home for any family.
Now, after its extensive remodel, the home is selling for a considerable amount more than $16,000 — but with all that hard work, it's certainly worth every penny.
What was once a grotesque eyesore is now a glowing gem of the neighborhood.
Neighbors and its future owners are sure to be thankful this gorgeous architecture wasn't torn down.
