Amazing Girlfriend Files Down 2 Rough Planks To Make An Incredible Coffee Table

Sure, saving up your money and buying something that you have had your eye on for a while feels pretty good.

But, as any DIY-er already knows, finding a way to make things yourself for less money is even more rewarding!

Where there's a will there's a way and crafters have found some pretty interesting ways to make beautiful crafts, clothing, and furniture all on their own.

Having a few carpentry skills under your belt definitely allows for even more possibilities when it comes to making your own amazing project.

Fortunately, this particular Imgur user had them in abundance, as well as other cool resources at her disposal.

While pining after a coffee table that neither she nor her boyfriend could afford, she decided to make an amazing coffee table all by herself and surprise him with it.

So she decided to put her awesome carpentry skills to use and make her own!

The beautiful DIY table would become a Christmas present to surprise her boyfriend with.

She started off buying two rough planks and drawing a winding river pattern on them.

Then, with the help of the equipment at her school's workshop, she cut out the shape using an electric file.

Then she inserted the coffee table shape into a computer program attached to a sophisticated saw.

With the pattern programmed, the saw could create a little track in the planks, where the pretty piece of glass for the table could be inserted.

Then some sleek table legs were attached to the planks.

With the glass secured in the middle, the table looks like a winding river!

After the glass was professionally cut to shape, it was time to make it a pretty, watery blue color.

A blue film was used to achieve the color.

First it was applied to the shape, then the edges were cut away.

Then the pretty, unique table was finished!

"Hid it under all the boxes under our staircase for weeks until Christmas," she explained

Using her own two hands, she was able to make something amazing for her boyfriend that looked just as good as their dream table, without the big bucks!

It made a great addition to the living room, and her boyfriend was absolutely thrilled!
