No parent wants their child to experience any sort of pain, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
From scrapes, headaches, and splinters, kids unfortunately experience some pretty painful "boo-boos" that leave them crying. When this happens, parents try to make their kids feel better as quickly as possible.
I know when I was little, my dad used to distract me while pulling off a bandage to replace it with a fresh one. Also, my mom would always rub my back whenever I got earaches. But one thing they could never make feel good about was pulling out splinters.
Most parents have never been able to figure out a good way to pull them out that didn't cause pain. However, a mom from England has the perfect solution.
One mom named Claire Bullen-Jones thought of a new way to pull out painful splinters from her kids' fingers. Instead of using her fingertips or a tweezer, Claire discovered that the plastic syringe that comes with baby medicine works perfectly.

Claire Bullen-Jones is a mom who has thought of a new way to pull splinters out of her children's fingers by using a plastic syringe.
She posted about it on her Facebook page, and it immediately amazed parents across the world.
Claire posted about her splinter hack on October 18, 2017. She wrote:
Kids got a splinter? Grab the calpol box and take out the syringe that comes with it! Make sure it’s clean obviously! You need to make sure there’s a little bit of a gap before you start — picture for example. Put the small hole at the bottom of the syringe as best you can over the splinter. Once you know your above it, make sure the syringe is touching the skin-and pull! Make sure there’s no gaps otherwise you won’t get it! The syringe will more than likely pull it out in the first go! Pain free, no tugging and pulling, and no little ones upset or scared at getting it out! Don’t pull slowly! You need to pull rather quickly! If it’s a stubborn splinter, just do this a couple of times! Saves so much time, and well worth seeing the kids smile at the end of it rather than red faces and tears! Because the plastic is clear, you can check what’s been taken out of the skin! Best parent hack to date! Pass it on mums and dads!
***for those who’ve inboxed about the calpol syringe, ibuprofen come with them too! Doesn’t matter which you use their both the same!
Claire's daughters are happy their mom has thought of a creative way to get rid of their splinters. Now, they don't have to worry about Mom or Dad painfully removing them.
Most parents have probably had a child get a splinter, so they know how upsetting it can be. It can also be very hard to get a splinter out, especially with a crying child!
Most parents probably reach for tweezers when their child gets splinters. But Claire has come up with an easier and less painful way to get splinters out using a syringe.
Claire told LittleThings:
They hate tweezers! They never let us use tweezers now, only the syringe. Tweezers would always cause more harm than good. We might of been able to get it out in the end with tweezers, but we’d have whichever child in absolute disgust at us for hurting them! Doing it this way has saved time, tears, arguments, and upset.
Claire uploaded this photo of the syringe that came with her children's medicine. As you can see, she has removed the thin end of the syringe.
Claire took out the bottom of the syringe so the hole can latch on to the skin and suck out the splinter.
Calpol isn't available in the US, but you can find the same kind of plastic syringe in other products meant for children. Just check your local pharmacy for medicine that comes with a syringe and follow Claire's steps.

Claire also explained in the comments that this hack has "never failed in getting them out," and it's a good idea to keep a few in your car or bag.
