With school back in session, parents can take a breather from all the summer plans and activities, as well as the worries and the hectic lifestyle that comes with that. With kids busy with classes and activities all day long, moms and dads have at least a few hours before picking up their kids for dinnertime.
But somehow, this isn't the carefree time for parents we think it would — and should — be. Kids who take the school bus rely on the responsibility of drivers to get them to their destination safely and on time.
Unfortunately, this doesn't always seem to be the case. Some neglectful drivers can continue on their routes for hours before realizing that they didn't drop off children at the appropriate stop. Or these kids are even forgotten about when they fall asleep.
A distraught and livid grandmother and mother are looking for answers after their first grader wasn't at her after-school program when the mother arrived to pick her up.
In fact, the little girl, Talia, never got there.
The mother, beyond worried about what could have happened to her daughter, received a phone call that she was still on the bus, almost four hours after boarding. The worst part? This isn't the first time this has happened to her.
Although the family hasn't yet received the answers they are looking for, they're warning other parents about the possible danger of using the school bus pickup and drop-off system.
