On the 15th of August, 11 cats were found outside a New York City animal shelter, inside milk crates that were taped shut. A few days later, 12 more cats were dropped off in exactly the same way, in exactly the same place.
The Brooklyn center of the Animal Care & Control is currently housing the cats, but because so many of them came in so quickly, they are in desperate need of adoption. Many times, shelters have a hard time housing all the animals that come through their door, which means that these cats may face euthanization.
I'm not sure how anyone could just abandon a bunch of cats like this, but we can make a difference right now!

The milk crates were taped shut, so none of the cats could get out until they were set free by rescue workers.

"We’ve taken these cats in, but there are better ways for members of the community to surrender pets or bring in stray animals,” says the shelter's executive director, Risa Weinstock.
