A 4-year-old girl had the perfect response when a boy in her class told her that he didn't like her hair. Her mom, Mildred Munjanganja, shared a video of her daughter telling the story while they were in the car. The original video shared on TikTok now has over 1.9 million views and more than 396,000 likes.
In the video, the 4-year-old, Leila, tells her mom, "Owen said he didn't like my hair, but I said, 'I like it.'"
"Good!" the mom exclaimed, happy with her daughter's confident response. She then asked for more information about what Leila's classmate Owen said.
"He said, 'I don't like that hair, it's crazy,'" Leila told her mom. "And I said, 'My mommy made it. If you don't like it, I'll keep it for myself.'"
"I'm so proud of you!" Leila's mom exclaimed. "You stood up for yourself. That's what matters — what matters is that you like it. It's your hair."
TikTok users really admired Leila's confidence (and her hair).
"I like your hair very much!" one TikTok user wrote. "And I’m proud of you for just telling him the truth, that you like it. And that self confidence is amazing!"
"'If you don't like it I'll keep it for myself,'" another TikTok user commented. "I'm gonna say that for the rest of my life. ❤️❤️❤️."

Leila's mom told People that she has tried to teach her daughter to appreciate her unique qualities and to not let other's opinions get her down.
"That's the one thing that we have spoken about, is people will have different opinions and we can thank them for their contribution, but we don't have to soak it in," she told the outlet. "We don't have to take it, we don't have to accept it, we don't have to allow it to ruin our day. We can simply acknowledge that it's their contribution, but it's theirs."
