Young Wife Is 485 Pounds But Vows To Change When She Can’t Squeeze Legs Into Extra-Wide Boots

Lighter by 303 pounds after first starting her journey, Lexi couldn't be prouder of where she is today.

But on January 1, 2016, Lexi was a 485-pound 25-year-old who couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without running out of breath, always had to worry about whether she'd fit in certain furniture, and was constantly conscious about her weight.

She was still confident in herself, but on December 31, 2015, she and her husband decided together they'd make a New Year's Resolution to have healthier habits.

Within months, they had both dropped a ton of weight — but their journey wasn't over. Lexi and her hubby, Danny, still hit the gym all the time, set goals for themselves, and make healthy choices with their food.

The two document their weight loss on Instagram, where Lexi tries to encourage others to believe in themselves and push hard toward their dreams.

On October 3, Lexi shared this photo of her trying to put on a new pair of boots before heading to the gym. She wrote:

I remember the picture on the left like it was yesterday. @dannyreed5 & I were about to head to the gym, but I wanted to try on my new boots before we left. I had ordered my first pair of extra wide calf boots online & when I received them in the mail – they still were too small.

I didnt even get them half way zipped and told my husband to snap a picture of me in them because one day they would.

I had faith that one day I would lose the weight if I kept going to the gym and being healthy. I believed in myself and the process. Flash forward just over a year 1/2 later & I can wear any boots I want.

With this photo, Lexi wrote:

As of today i’ve lost 303lbs since last year! I may have lost 303lbs, but my journey isn’t about only weight loss.

My journey isn't about getting skinny, 'hot', or a thigh gap – my journey is about the life I gained. My journey is about being healthy mentally/physically and the way I live my life – not a number.

Last year at 485lbs I had to literally think about the furniture I sat on. I had to question if I would fit, if it would break, if i’d get stuck, or get to a restaurant before my friends to request a table.

At 26 years old I wasnt able to walk a mile, have a healthy pregnancy with my husband, climb a flight of stairs without gasping for air, ride a rollercoaster, travel on airplanes, go ziplining, sky dive, ride my husbands motorcycles, shop where I wanted, attempt anything with a weight limit , and I was fatigued all the time.

I may have lost 303lbs but i gained the strength to break free from my prison and all the things that once held me back no longer control my life.

And alongside this picture, Lexi explained:

My name is Lexi & if you’re new to my journey last year I made a New Years Resolution to lose weight. It may seem like your average resolution, but it completely changed my life.

At 25 years old & 485lbs – I was a prisoner in my own body. I knew nothing about working out or fitness, dieting or nutrition, and I absolutely hated cooking if I couldn't use the microwave.

I decided no more excuses and refused to stop talking about losing the weight and that I actually was going to do it. I didn’t have a trainer, surgery, meal plan, or anything like that.

I started reading food labels, tracking calories with myfitnesspal, joined dietbets to stay accountable, and experimenting with my food.

I was just your average girl fedup with living an obese life. I decided to stop focusing on how long the journey would take, how many pounds I had to lose, and the fact that I didnt know how to cook anything more than microwave meals.

I decided I was going to focus on small changes every single day, and one of my mottos was 'fake it til you make it.' I walked into the gym like it wasn't my first time and worked out 30 mins on the elliptical 5x a week.

I started taking the unhealthy foods I loved and making them healthy even though I could barely use an oven. I started putting in the work, mentally convincing myself daily I was capable, learning new things along my journey daily, and before I knew it my life started to change.
