Team USA Soccer Player Alex Morgan’s Youngest Fan Overcomes The Odds To Cheer Her On

In a recent post to her Instagram account, Ana Camelo Jackson, mother of 2-year-old Luca, proudly shared her adorable son clad in a Ted Lasso-themed shirt and cheering with all his might for soccer player and San Diego Wave striker Alex Morgan in Monterrey, Mexico. The post with its cuteness overload was destined to go viral and eventually was even featured on Good Morning America's website.

Beyond the cuteness and internet fame, there is another deeper meaning why this video is so important and meaningful. Jackson shared on Instagram that Luca was born with three congenital heart defects. He had to undergo open heart surgery shortly after being born. To watch Luca go from being hooked up to an overwhelming amount of medical machinery to screaming “Alex Morgan” at the top of his lungs was “surreal” for Jackson. It's a precious memory that she was happy to share with the world.

It did not take long for Alex Morgan herself to see the viral post. She took to TikTok to share how much she loved it. She gifted Luca his very own jersey and got to meet him after a game.

Luca picked an impressive player to cheer on. Morgan has had and continues to build an accomplished career. She began playing soccer at age 14 and would go on to be the youngest player on the World Cup roster. She has participated in three Olympic Games, winning two medals. In the 2012 London Games she scored the winning goal for Team USA. Her stats include 115 goals and 45 assists. Not only is she a great player, but she also works hard to advocate for women's equality in the sport. One can only assume more big things will come for this soccer star.

Another reason Luca’s cheering touched Morgan is because she is mom herself. In 2014, Morgan married Servando Carrasco, who is also a professional soccer player. The couple welcomed their daughter, Charlie Elena, to the world on May 7, 2020.

Jackson was floored by the number of messages she received from friends and strangers alike, who said that Luca’s video touched them and made them smile. She hopes her son can be a beacon of light in these trying times. She was grateful to Morgan for taking the time to meet with her son.
