Amy Schumer Opens Her First ‘SNL’ Appearance With A Hysterical, Withering Monologue

Just a couple of years ago, Amy Schumer was a little-known comic working the stand-up circuit around New York City. Though she was known and respected by comedy buffs, she wasn’t a household name.

Then, in 2013, Comedy Central picked up her sketch show, Inside Amy Schumer. She quickly leveraged her airtime into a platform for sharing clever, incisive bits about current events, and became a sensation pretty much overnight, joining fellow comedians like Jimmy Kimmel in her complete mastery of the timely joke.

By the time her movie Trainwreck hit the silver screens this summer, Schumer was a bona fide superstar. These days, she’s besties with Jennifer Lawrence, and you can’t check Facebook without stumbling across another gem of a skit in your newsfeed.

Then, this past week, she achieved the ultimate marker of superstardom: hosting SNL. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to hear what America’s slightly foul-mouthed sweetheart had to say, and, boy, did she deliver!

The overarching theme is a discussion of women in Hollywood, but at some point she takes a sharp left to broach a topic that can spawn almost endless debate — the Kardashian-Jenner clan. While you might think this subject lost its steam a while back, just wait until she hits her stride two minutes in. Her deep and meaningful thoughts vis a vis Khloe are beyond hilarious.

And if this hysterical stand-up routine got your day off to a good start, please SHARE on Facebook for anyone grappling with the inexplicable fame of the Kardashians!
