Wild Animals See Their Reflections For The First Time, And Their Reactions Are Hilarious

The new video below is amazing — it's no wonder it has more than one million views in just a day!

We've seen many domesticated animals see their reflections for the first time ever, but how would a wild animal react?

Innovative French photographer Xavier Hubert Brierre travelled to Gabon in Africa with his wife and set up a mirror in several locations in order to capture animals walking by.

The results are stunning. Each species reacts in a different, unique way. The leopard's reaction is quite hilarious, while the gorilla's is the fiercest. Some admire their looks in the mirror (ahem, elephant) while others are skittish.

The primates have one of the most fascinating reactions to the strange contraption. One YouTube commenter, oggyreidmore, says, "When the chimp started scratching their elbow and observed the reflection do the same thing, you could see the light bulb go off for the whole group. Then the other chimp scratched their arm to test the hypothesis, then then third chimp gave a little hop to prove the concept- then all of a sudden all the chimps were sitting around it chilling and checking themselves out."
