This just goes to show you that looks can be deceiving! If I saw an old crock like this I wouldn't think twice about its history or its potential price tag.
The woman in this video recently bought two of these crocks from a local barn. Unfortunately, while bringing them home, she accidentally broke one of the antiques.
Luckily, one of the crocks survived, and she finally brought it to The Antiques Roadshow, where expert Wes Cowan instantly knew he was dealing with something special.
The stencil crock manufacturers were made in western Pennsylvania and would take orders from retailers. This particular crock was made in around 1890 and traveled all the way from western Pennsylvania, down the Ohio River, and ended up in the hands of a Kentucky retailer. The price tag for this Kentucky retailer's crock was utterly astounding.
Unlike the Mother who was happy to break an antique, this woman must be kicking herself for breaking the other one! That's so much money!
Have you ever seen a crock like this sitting in an old yard sale? This is definitely something you should keep your eye out for in the future! Not only are they beautiful to look at, but they've got a really interesting history and it turns out that they're a great financial investment too!
Please SHARE this cool piece of Americana with all of your friends and family! You never know when you might see one for sale!
