If you are one of the many Americans who visits the gym on a daily basis, you may also be spending money on a personal trainer, or a fitness class. What if I told you that a product was invented, which would tell you exactly how to work out, when to push harder, or what to change about your workout, and this product is not as chiseled as Arnold or make you feel inadequate every time you stand next to him or her? Meet Athos. Athos is the product of a new kind of "smart" workout clothing line developed by a Silicon Valley startup. With Athos, you slip on a connected piece of clothing like their pants, shorts or shirt (each at $99), connect them to the Athos device ($199) and voila, your mobile phone is now in charge of your workout, telling you what to do, when to do it, when to push harder, and what improvements you need to make. It can also help you improve performance and prevent injury using data generated from the wireless fabric. Sound like it's from the future? It does to me!
Watch the video below, where Sarah Buhr of Techcrunch investigates this new product and please sound off in the comments… Is this something you'd be willing to splurge for? Is it time to replace the trainer? I know I'd be willing to try something like this.
