While I've never been lucky enough to see one in real life, I really can't get enough of watching adorable baby elephants attempt to figure out the world in their own silly, clumsy way. Though they are much smaller than their older family members, the small fries aren't exactly petite, as one tourist learned while snuggling up with an especially friendly fella. He plops right down on her like he's a regular lap dog!
The funny tyke in the video below, however, is a lot more hesitant when it comes to trusting strange new things. Walking along the road with his mom and the rest of their herd, they are all forced to stop short when the shorty can't summon enough courage to cross a teeny-tiny stream of water. The bigger elephants attempt to show him how easy it is several times, but the stubborn youngster just won't be convinced.
It's hilarious to see that if they would just take a few steps to their left, there's a perfectly dry spot he could cross over without any anxiety. But his mama is so determined to make him mind, she stretches out her trunk to shove him along. I'm sure she'd throw him over her shoulders if she could! Despite her strength, he remains steadfast in his aversion. She was probably pretty soft on him, but could you be stern with something this cute? I know I couldn't!
By the end of the clip, he starts wandering down the road, where he'll hopefully find a more acceptable path. This family definitely has their hands, er, trunks full with this kiddo!
