When it comes to conceiving boys, Jay and Kateri Schwandt are second to none. Beginning in college, the married couple from Rockford, MI, started a 20-year tradition of producing only male offspring. Since their first son, Tyler, Kateri went on to give birth to 11 more boys: Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinnie, Calvin, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, and Tucker.
Not only does Kateri love the physical and emotional aspects of being pregnant and raising children, but she is no stranger to large families. She's one of 14 children herself.
In May of 2015, Jay and Kateri were expecting their thirteenth child, and this time they were hoping to add a baby girl to their strong family unit. However, they said they'd be shocked if the baby was a girl, simply because they thought the odds were not exactly in their favor. But a genetics expert calculated the chance of giving birth to 12 sons in a row is as low .02 percent, so anything is possible, right?
Jay and Kateri decided to wait until the delivery to find out the sex of their new baby. Watch the video below to find out the gender of lucky number 13.
