Florida Deputy Saves 6-Month-Old After Car Crash With A Motorcycle

A family in Florida is feeling extremely grateful after a 6-month-old baby was saved in a car crash. Charlotte County Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove witnessed a car crash on February 8, 2024, that involved a motorcyclist going over 100 mph, WPTV reported.

The motorcyclist crashed into a car that had Kayleigh Foley and her two daughters, 3-year-old Ariel and 6-month-old Lola, in it. Foley, 22, told* Good Morning America* that when she saw Musgrove, she started screaming, "My babies, my babies, get my babies." Kayleigh and Ariel were both OK, but Musgrove wasn't sure about Lola at first.

Musgrove said the baby was not breathing when he got her out of the car, so he performed chest compressions until she started breathing again, just before paramedics arrived, WPTV reported.

Musgrove noted that "a first responder being right there probably saved her life," reported Good Morning America.

In a statement, Sheriff Bill Prummell praised Musgrove for his "poise and calm demeanor in a scene of chaos and tragedy [that] ultimately saved the life of a beautiful child."

Lola was taken to a children's hospital with multiple injuries but she is recovering, Good Morning America reported.

Lola's grandmother, Lisa Foley, called Musgrove "our angel" and the family has nicknamed him Lola's "uncle," Good Morning America reported.

In addition to saving Lola's life, Musgrove continues to help the family as Lola recovers. He has visited the hospital and communicated with the family regularly.
