Spring is in full bloom. The flowers are sprouting, the birds are chirping, and most likely, your yard is a mess from the frigid winter.
I’m talking dry leaves, dead grass, and things — Christmas garlands, doggie chew toys, your reading glasses you couldn’t find for months — that were once buried deep under piles of endless snow are now revealing themselves. It’s time to do some serious spring cleaning and prep your yard for summer.
Once it’s clean, there are also some really cool weekend projects you can do to fully enjoy your private plot of paradise. One of my favorites is creating an outdoor grilling area where you have all your fixings, barbecue utensils, sink, and even a cabinet for marinades, all in one place.
Another stunning backyard summer addition is turning an old plastic cooler into a beautiful wooden one complete with a spout.
Yet, as pleasing as those projects are, nothing compares to the lawn spruce up that one Imgur user, arnotts83, did to his dirt pit of a yard.
He took a wasteland and turned it into a wonderland…

It all started with this ugly little plot of land. It’s all dirt, dead grass, and leftover cement blocks.

He started out by plowing it with a bulldozer, which was much easier than shoveling it.

Once it was excavated and his dogs got the lay of the land, it was time to make this yard into a one-of-a-kind area.

Three courses of natural limestone blocks were piled up.

Next he created a frame.

Once the frame was complete, he painted it black and added more wood for a seat.

Then he covered the bottom of the frame with the same wood he used for the seats, making a handsome wooden bench.

The wood then got a nice, rich stain.

Of course, his dogs wouldn't mind it either way.

Once half the project was completed, he worked on the second half repeating the same steps. He also added something very special in the middle of the square bench area.

It’s a fire pit! This time both his dogs completely approve of this really rewarding backyard project.

I can definitely roast some marshmallows in this lovely area — what a massive improvement!

What do you think of this project and — more importantly — what would you use that fire pit for? Let us know in the comments.
