This video proves that, with a little bit of hard work and a strong sense of resiliency, you can achieve whatever goals you decide to make for yourself!
The teenager in the video, who goes by the name of Malte, is only 5'7 — not exactly the height of an NBA superstar.
But over a period of six months, he set his eyes on the prize. He decided on a goal that he wished to reach: to be able to dunk a regulation net with a regulation ball.
The video is intense, showing Malte training over a long period of time and finally managing to touch the rim. He then eventually dunks using a small hand-held ball; it took him a long time, but he finally accomplished what he set out to do and slammed it through!
When he wasn't working toward his goal of dunking, he spent a lot of his time working out his legs. Malte used the dreaded two-footed jump, as well as the one-footed jump. He would change up his exercise patterns in order to confuse his muscles and avoid any chance of hitting a plateau.
Along with the jump-based workouts, Malte goes on to express the importance of always keeping good form — it's about quality, not quantity here. He's done a series of the usual workouts in order to dunk, along with a training regiment:
- Squats
- Lunges
- Box Jumps
- Calf Raises
- Frog Jumps
- Bicycles
- Push Ups
It’s great to watch the evolution that Malte made in this inspiring video. Not only did he set a goal…but he managed to achieve it! It’s never too late to start growing. If you set a reasonable goal, and you work out wisely, you’ll be able to jump, run, or lift better than ever before. Malte’s transformation is pretty great; hopefully he’ll stick to that intensity and keep setting higher goals. The sky’s the limit!
