Imagine traveling over the rolling highlands of Scotland, taking in the crisp air and the gorgeous scenery. But after a long day of travel, you're really just looking forward to relaxing in your hotel for the night.
But when you finally catch a glimpse of where you'll be staying, you see… a fire truck?
If that sounds less than cozy, hold on. When you're on Scotland's Inshriach Estate, then chances are you're face-to-face with The Beermoth, a 1950s-era fire truck that's been lovingly renovated into a tiny, unexpected, and totally delightful cabin.
By now, you should know that creating cozy little homes (or in this case, hotels) in tiny places is a trend that's here to stay. Also, with the right renovation, we know that vehicles can actually make great living spaces, like this old church bus that got a second life as a dream home for one couple.
What's more, though, is that The Beermoth's makeover is a collection of recycled material from a variety of places, including a Tudor mansion, old pool tables, and even a dog house!
Read on to see how charming this old truck really is, and start planning your dream vacation immediately!

The Beermoth is a Commer Q4 van, and back in 1956, it was used as a fire truck, serving communities in Scotland.
Of course, 60 years later, it's no longer a fire truck, but instead is enjoying service as a quirky camper in the Scottish Highlands.

The entire interior has been renovated and now has everything you need for a camping trip that's a little more glamorous than the average tent-and-sleeping-bag deal.
There's even a full-size antique bed inside, so you can sleep in style.

To make it more livable, the roof of the truck was raised a foot, and the floor was replaced with an oak parquet floor salvaged from a Tudor mansion.
The slate hearth was built using the remains of a pool table, and a fire escape makes the staircase leading in and out.
The back wall comes from a doghouse, and the door was picked up from one of the old cottages on the estate.

But even though it's a patchwork of salvaged materials, it all comes together beautifully for a rustic-chic look. And it makes for a great camping trip!

As one reviewer put it, it's "the best parts of camping with none of the trickier parts."
It's quickly become a beloved getaway spot, especially for couples (it sleeps two) who want to take in the natural beauty of the outdoors, but who maybe could do without sleeping on the ground.

And as for the exterior, The Beermoth's vintage charm was kept intact.

Seeing this and being told it's where you're staying for the night might be a bit alarming, but when it comes to camping in style, you can't beat The Beermoth!
