The national anthem is something that we can all take pride in as Americans.
It's sung at every sporting event for a reason. That reason being, respect for our freedom and the life that we're able to live in America, the land of the free.
Whether you're in agreement with the importance of the National Anthem or not, you can at least appreciate it in the slightest, when someone like the young girl below performs it the way she does.
Marlana VanHoose is a 16-year-old blind girl who happens to have autism. But the more important trait that she happens to have is her singing talent.
Having autism, and being blind, must be a struggle in her daily life. However, I don't think that VanHoose is one to let anything get her down after hearing the strength in her voice.
She is shown in this video, belting out the national anthem, beautifully with no hesitation. She proves anyone's first judgments wrong and inspires everyone in the crowd.
VanHoose has an amazing voice, and she should be shared everywhere for her amazing talent.
She reminded me of the young man with autism who also did America proud with his performance of the National Anthem at Fenway Park, and the boy with disabilities who made sure he tried to stand during the anthem, in his own home.
Everything about these brave young kids shows that disabilities are just that, a disadvantage, but nothing more. I'm in no way discounting the struggle they go through, but these kids are a great showing of how to overcome those disabilities and power through life.
They follow their dreams. And from the look of it, they achieve it all.
