The Warner Robins Police Department in Georgia was causing quite a stir with their traffic stops.
For Dairy Queen's 10th annual Miracle Treat Day, the police department decided to handout Blizzard treats instead of tickets.
On this day, $1 from any Blizzard treat sold goes to the children's hospital Navicent Health.
Officer Ed Smith spent his day giving out little bits of kindness instead of penalties.
Jennifer Parson, a public information officer at the police department, said getting pulled over is not always a positive experience, but the event was a chance to turn that around.
“It was a good way for us to get into the community,” said Parson.
Smith let each driver know which law they were breaking. Then, to their shock, he handed them the treat.
“If I don’t follow procedure, I’m violating the Fourth Amendment rights of the people I pull over," Smith said.
Many cops are going above and beyond the call of duty. Just this week, another officer spent hours consoling a woman who had been speeding after learning her sister had died.
“I’m kind of glad I got pulled over now,” said one of the drivers. “This is the best pull over I’ve ever got.”
