‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Contestant Gets Adorable Surprise Marriage Proposal On The Air

Any good partner puts a lot of thought into the perfect marriage proposal. Should it be public or intimate? Should they include the family? Does one or both of you need to get down on one knee? In the case of one romantic man, he asked himself whether or not he wanted to involve a popular game show in his plans to pop the question to his girlfriend.

Thankfully, the people at Wheel of Fortune were willing, able, and incredibly accommodating in making his plans a reality.

Rhea Susan Mathew was a former contestant on Wheel of Fortune. She believed the show invited her back to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

But it was all a ruse. Her boyfriend had coordinated with the show to ask Rhea an important question. Her fellow competitors allowed her to solve a puzzle that contained the words: “Will you marry me?”

After she excitedly solves the puzzle, the stage doors open and Rhea’s boyfriend Robin Kuriakose steps out. As he walks toward her, we watch Rhea’s eyes widen in recognition of what is happening.

Rhea meets her boyfriend in the middle of the floor and he gets down on one knee. “Rhea Susan Mathew, will you marry me?” Robin asks.

Rhea, covering her mouth, nods a quick yes. And the two embrace. Longtime Wheel of Fortune cohost Vanna White looked on approvingly, hands clasped with tears in her eyes. Later, in response to the clip, Vanna shared she was happy the show could make this happen.

In a behind-the-scenes post shared on Instagram, Rhea told host Maggie Sajak that she had no idea Robin, who she described as one of her biggest supporters, would propose. “I’m still in shock,” she said.

Robin, who knew all along, expressed his gratitude. “I’m so happy that she got this moment, so thank you guys all for accommodating us and making it happen.”
