Oklahoma Tween Saves His Mom From Drowning In Pool After She Unexpectedly Has A Seizure

A 10-year-old Oklahoma boy is a hero. He saved his mother from drowning while she was having a seizure in the pool. It was all caught on surveillance video.

Gavin Keeney and his mother, Lori Keeney, were having a wonderful summer morning and enjoying a swim. This is when things took a potentially deadly turn. Lori had a seizure while in the pool.

Lori told ABC 30, "[Gavin] had just gotten out of the pool and I just went into a seizure. It scared me more than I've ever been scared." Lori suffers from epilepsy and is susceptible to seizures.

Gavin was sitting on the porch when he heard splashing. He looked over and saw his mom "sinking in the pool." He quickly jumped into action, diving into the pool and keeping his mother’s head above water until his grandpa could help. Gavin admitted, "I was scared a little bit.” He managed to work through that fear to save his mother.

The Kingston Police Department recognized Gavin’s heroism and presented him an award for bravery. The best reward, though, is his mother’s safety and gratitude. Lori stated, "He's definitely my hero. But I really do feel like he's my guardian angel, as well."
