Bradley Cooper made some big confessions on an episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert. He got honest about struggling to connect to his daughter when she was first born. He admitted it took him about eight months to truly bond with her.
Bradley shares daughter Lea with ex-Irina Shayk. She is now 6 years old. Bradley credits her for saving his life and making him a better person.
Bradley revealed that at first he didn’t understand how other parents would say they would die for their kids. “The first eight months — I don’t even know if I really love the kid,” he stated. “It’s dope. It’s cool. I’m watching this thing morph. That’s my experience. Fascinated by it. Loved taking care of it. But would I die if someone came in with a gun?”
This all changed. It just took some time. “And then all of a sudden, it’s like no question,” he stated. Bradley is so thankful for Lea because she makes him a better person.

“I’m not sure I’d be alive if I wasn’t a dad,” he went on to say. “I just needed someone to say, like, ‘We’re gonna drop this massive anchor.’ I’m like, ‘Why? We’re speeding! I just got an upgrade on the boat, and I know where the wind’s coming in.’ They’re like, ‘No, no, no, there’s a tsunami coming in, and you need an anchor and we’re gonna drop it.’ Because this is gonna dictate everything you do from now on. Your DNA is going to tell you that there’s something more important than you.”
Bradley and Irina first met and began dating in 2015. Lea was born in 2017. They broke up in 2019 but are committed to co-parenting and are often seen out and about as a family. Bradley is currently dating Gigi Hadid and Irina has been linked to Tom Brady. Some speculate that despite their current status, Irina wants to end up with Bradley eventually.
