Most parents love their kids and strive to do what's best for them. But every once in a while, a news headline makes folks completely lose faith in humanity as a whole. Recently, a Brazilian father was arrested after allegedly holding captive his wife, seven children, and his mother-in-law for 20 years.
What's worse is the yet unnamed man also allegedly sexually abused some of his daughters. The decades of abuse came to light after one of his daughters escaped and reported him to police. And the details in the case are simply horrifying.

The unnamed Brazilian man allegedly held his wife, 40, captive for 20 years at their home in Novo Oriente de Minas in the state of Minas Gerais. According to multiple Brazilian outlets, per People, the disturbing situation was recently revealed after one of their daughters escaped and told police.
"The victim only left the house to receive benefits and was often accompanied by him," said Herika Ribeiro Sena of the Regional Civil Police station in Teofilo Otoni, per Guia Muriae. "None of the neighbors knew her, not even her relatives had access to her," Sena added.
Additionally, the Brazilian man was accused of causing his wife to have three miscarriages after forcing her to take medication. He also allegedly buried three fetuses on the property.
In addition to the alleged crimes against his wife, the man allegedly sexually abused his late mother-in-law. Police allege the MIL died after becoming sick. The Brazilian man reportedly did not provide proper care for her.
The man and his wife's seven children, between the ages of 3 and 22, were also alleged victims. Police said the daughters claimed their father sexually abused them. He also allegedly drilled holes in the walls of their home so he could watch them shower and get dressed.
