These Cats Hear Music Remixed From Their Purrs. How They Respond? SO Adorable!

We all have that song or album we put on that helps us decompress and de-stress, non-restrictive to genre or style. It’s a rhythm or tone that resonates with you and helps you slow your mind of all its chatter. What if we could gift our pets the same luxury?

David Teie is revolutionizing the way our cats hear music. Tapping into sounds that they’re familiar with, soothing mimics of suckling sounds and low-hum purrs all get remixed into his calming aural therapy. And if you live anywhere near the NYC area, you too can partake in Teie’s cello-based compositions, because they currently play at the Meow Parlour in New York City (though last time I checked, you had to book appointments).

Cat Cafes aren’t all that new, but Teie’s approach to making them just as much a relaxing space for the kitties as for the visitors is something pretty special, and he claims there are ways that cats signal they approve of the sound (sometimes purring, nuzzling, or rubbing up against the speaker). I’m sure that kind of transparent communication would be much appreciated by human parents of cats. I for one will be attempting to witness this in person sometime in the immediate future.
