Kenzi Miller had it all planned out. The popular cheerleader at Keller's Central High School had been planning her "promposal" for weeks. She knew exactly who she wanted to ask and she was ready to create an elaborate spectacle to ask him to be her date. The only trouble was, no one really believed she wanted to take him of all people.
"They're not trying to be rude. They just say, 'You want to take him to your senior prom?'" Kenzi told WFAA. "And I say, 'Why not?'"
The boy she had her sights on? Cameron Biagiotti. Kenzi has been friends for Cameron for a while. Cameron also happens to have Williams syndrome, a condition that affects cardiovascular and slows development. It's a nonissue for Kenzi, who believes she can be her real self around him — a task that isn't easy for anyone in high school.
"They just accept you for who you are. You don't have to act a certain way. Everyone can be very open. I can be whoever I want when I'm with Cameron," she said.
Kenzi convinced all of her friends to join in on the promposal. They paraded down the block with big signs and a marching band. Cameron accepted and his mother was ecstatic to see that at Keller High, her son was being accepted.
