Ben Walker was a young boy who had not been treated well by life in the short time he had been on this planet. His mother had died in a tragic car accident just over a year ago and he and his father William had been struggling ever since.
Ben’s mom died when she was crossing the street and a motorcycle struck her. It was a devastating event that shocked the community and left William to raise a 5-year-old boy on his own.
William’s wife had been a high school teacher and without her income, William quickly discovered that he could not pay all of the monthly bills and support a small child on his own. William was an artist, but since he had Ben to feed and support, he tried to find quick work that would help him support his son.
Due to his inexperience in the workforce, William had a hard time finding steady work. He finally got a job as a pizza delivery person. The pay wasn’t great, but William took what he could get.
After a couple of months though, William was let go due to several late deliveries. Even though he never liked that job, he found himself struck by a huge sense of defeat because he needed money to provide for Ben.
