When you think of high-school sports, activities such as football, lacrosse, and basketball probably come to mind. But unfortunately, many people don't consider cheerleading to be "active" enough to be considered an athletic event. After seeing these young women perform, though, it's impossible to deny that cheerleading requires a level of coordination and athleticism far above what most people can do.
The ladies of the 2008 Columbus High School cheerleading squad embody everything we think of when we think about their sport. Their seemingly-effortless flips, teamwork, and enthusiasm were huge in helping them win the AAA Georgia High School Association cheerleading championship, and eight years later, the video of their performance is still making jaws drop. Just like this unbelievable cheerleader (who's also from Georgia), these incredible young women are proving to the world that you can be strong, flexible, and powerful, all while wearing a colorful skirt.
Being as I can't even touch my toes without bending my knees, the moves that these athletes can pull off are extra impressive to me. I can only imagine how long it must take to become this good at what they do. They must have started training when they were as young as this tiny girl who already looks like a cheerleading pro! I wouldn't be surprised at all if everyone on this squad went on to cheer for professional sports teams. From what I can tell, they've certainly got the skills for it!
Are you in awe over this squad's championship performance? SHARE this video with your friends so they can see what it takes to be a cheerleader!
