Conjoined twins in Texas are all set to go home after undergoing a successful separation surgery. At just 4 months old, Ella and Eliza Fuller are getting to experience life without sharing the same liver. Their parents, Sandy and Jesse Fuller, couldn't be more grateful.
The babies were classified as omphalopagus conjoined twins, since they were conjoined at the stomach. Sandy and Jesse discovered this four weeks after they found out they'd be having twins. And because they found out early, the medical team at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston had time to prepare for their birth and potential separation.
After undergoing a six-hour operation, the twins were successfully separated. “The future has no limits for them,” said Dr. Alice King, the pediatric surgeon who led the surgery.

The couple described holding their babies separately for the first time as “an overwhelming feeling [of] excitement." They are ready to go home now, so their older daughter, Emi, can meet her baby sisters. “It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be a very emotional day.”
