When Alicia Angeli walked out into the backyard of her Luzerne County home, she had no idea she would find a four-legged guest swimming in her pool.
It was a Sunday afternoon like any, and Alicia was taking her dogs outside when she saw the head of a deer just above the surface of the pool water. With a closer look, she saw that the young deer was otherwise completely submerged in the water. That's when she ran to her husband, James, for help. And when he saw what was in the pool, he could barely believe his eyes!
But that didn't stop him from immediately taking action. He tapped on the side of the pool, and as if he knew that he was going to be saved, the deer swam over to James. Then he hoisted him out of the water, and lay him on the ground.
The young deer was unable to move once on the ground, and the couple's excited dog frightened him for a few seconds. So Alicia got a few blankets and placed them on top of him. She says that she even helped warm him up with her body heat! Luckily, after a few minutes, the deer was able to get up, and run off back into the woods.
