11 Stories From Folks Who Have Done Truly Bizarre Things In Their Sleep

Who would have thought that sleeping might be one of the most bizarre and insane activities that we could ever bestow upon ourselves?

Alright, that might be a bit dramatic, but I talk from experience when I say that sleepwalking and talking on your sleep definitely put you in a vulnerable, and sometimes silly, spot — just like with this dog who was having a nightmare.

I still can't get over that during my adolescent years, I woke up in the middle of the night — thinking it was time to go to school — and jumped in the shower, clothes all on, and went back to sleep afterward. I thought it was a dream up until I felt my hair, which was sopping wet.

But hey, these are the best stories to tell and laugh about afterward. That's what these people sure did by sharing their tales publicly on the internet!

And now, thanks to them, we get to reveal to you 11 stories of sleepwalking and other strange sleep behaviors that will make you feel much better about your own night of rest.

“I can't remember what I was dreaming about, but when I was younger (I was 11 or 12, I think) I slept walked into my mom's kitchen from my bedroom, holding one of my socks in my hand. I put the sock in the microwave for 30 seconds and woke up when I tasted a warm sock in my mouth.” — whatnot13

“When I was 13, and my cousins slept over, I got up in the middle of the night, crawled around all all four, and woke her up by meowing at her and demanding to be petted." — PantheraLupus

“One time, as a kid, I think I was about 7, I woke up in the middle of the night on the front lawn in my onesie. I woke up while just standing there, barefoot in a few inches of snow, the front door wide open. I don't think I was out there for too long, but who knows. My parents saw my tracks in the snow in the morning and were very confused." — Reddit user

“I apparently giggle a lot in my sleep. The ‘creepy’ giggle, it terrifies my SO [significant other] who has been awake at times to hear it.

“I personally don't remember anything being funny, but it fascinates me that I choose to giggle over sleep talking.” — stellabeaux

“My roommate told me that I recited the story Der Wolf und die sieben jungen Geissien in German in my sleep because I had an oral test on it. We only had to summarize it, but I figured my only chance of passing the class would be for me to memorize it and do the voices when I said it for my teacher.

“When I was in grade school, our bus stop was just down the street on the corner. I used to have bad sleep anxiety, especially when it came to being late for the bus. One night, I woke up and apparently I had showered, gotten dressed, gotten my school work together, and walked down to the bus stop. This was at 1 a.m. My neighbor randomly drove by and told me the news.” — 2Hawt2Trawt69

“I sleep talk occasionally in my sleep, and once, in college, my boyfriend (now husband) woke up and saw me sit up with my eyes open. I then looked over at him and said, ‘Your time has come.’ Just then, my closet door popped open and did the slow, creaky thing that you see in horror movies. Apparently, I just laid back down and didn't say another word.” — HeyLadycakes
