There is always much debate about pregnant women who continue to pursue intense exercise and fitness.
While much of that debate comes over concern for the mother and child's safety. Now, many doctors and fit moms are dispelling the myth that it is unhealthy or dangerous.
"I think people are quick to judge pregnant women," obstetrician Brittany Stofko, DO of Penn Medicine told Huffington Post.
"If she's fit and she's healthy and she's doing this under the supervision of her obstetrician, I think she can safely continue."
According to the Mayo Clinic, it is perfectly fine for a woman to continue to remain athletic, if she was doing it prior to getting pregnant.
Exercising while carrying your little one can prevent back issues, enhance mood, and make sleep better.
It can also, "reduce the risk of gestational diabetes and pregnancy-related high blood pressure, as well as lessen the symptoms of postpartum depression. In addition, it might reduce the risk that your baby is born significantly larger than average (fetal macrosomia)."
Nevertheless activities like scuba diving, contact sports or anything that forces a pregnant woman to lie on her back can be potentially dangerous.
It goes without saying that not every exercise is suitable for every pregnant woman, but with anOK of her doctor or obstetrician everything should be fine.
