When you think about cute animals, you're mind likely drifts to puppies, bunnies and kittens.
If you're feeling crazy, you may even think of penguins or giraffes or llamas as possibly the cutest animals in the world.
Yet, there's a whole planet out there full of animals you've probably never heard of. If you've never heard of an Axolotyl or a Pangolin or a Dik-Dik, you're in luck. We'd like to to meet some of the most absurdly adorable animals that you've probably never heard of.
Please SHARE to show off these adorable little-known creatures.
The Axolotl
While this little guy may look straight out of "Finding Nemo," the Axolotyl is actually a creature from Mexico, known as the Mexican salamander or Mexican walking fish. Ole!
The Tarsier
The Tarsier is another animal that appears to be straight out of a cartoon. Known mainly for its big eyes, the Tarsier's eyes are EACH bigger than its brain.
The Slow Loris
The Slow Loris gained Internet fame in a viral video where it ate a rice ball, but don't let its adorable big eyes fool you. This seemingly cuddly creature is one of the world's only poisonous mammals, releases toxins from it's elbows.
The Proboscis Monkey
While the Slow Loris has huge eyes, the proboscis monkey is best known for it's giant nose. We'd prefer to call this the "Adrien Brody Monkey."
The Pangolin
The pangolin has a nose like the proboscis monkey, but that's where the similarities end. These burrowing mammals are often called "scaly anteaters" and are covered in tough, overlapping scales. They enjoy a protein-filled diet of ants and termites and can roll into a ball if threatened.
The Tamandua
While the pangolin is a scaly anteater, the tamandua is a tamer one, using its long nose to capture insects. However, if you're ever cornered by a tamandua, fear not, as they have no teeth.
The Fennec Fox
My what big ears you have, my dear. The fennec fox is a small African canine, best known for its giant ears. While they do have sensitive ears and great hearing, those giant Dumbo ears help eliminate heat in the African desert.
The Klipspringer
Like the fennec fox, the klipspringer resides in Africa. It's name literally means "rock jumper" and it may also be known as a "mvundla," which translates to rabbit. Basically, this creature is a weird Disney hybrid of Bambi & Thumper.
The Aye-Aye
While the klipspringer may be some weird deer and rabbit hybrid, the crazy-eyed aye-aye has rodent-like teeth and a thing middle finger to act like a woodpecker. It's technically a lemur, but kinda looks like a Mogwai that was fed after midnight.
The Maned Wolf
The maned wolf is a creature indigenous to South America that resembles a giant red fox. Unlike many other species, the maned wolf is monagomous with the male and female flying solo until breeding season.
The Sunda Colugo
The Sunda Colugo is also known as the "flying lemur." However, it's not technically a lemur, nor does it fly…so there's that.
The Dik-Dik
Unlike the sunda colugo, the dik-diks name makes perfect sense, as its named after the sound it makes when it's alarmed. So the dik-dik makes a dik-dik sound to ward off predators? Got it.
The Banded Piglet Squid
While the dik-dik may be adorable, the banded piglet squid takes cute to a new level. Very little is known about this creature due to its habitat deep in the ocean, but we're pretty sure it's really a Muppet. Gonzo, is that you?!
The Long Eared Jerboa
The long-eared jerboa is a rodent known for it's oversized ears. To match its ears, it also sports extra long legs and a long tail, but it still resembles an odd mouse-rabbit hybrid.
The Patagonian Mara
Speaking of mouse-hybrids, the Patagonian mara is a rodent that is very much like a rabbit, ranging from its look to its eating and mating habits. Guess "Mating like a patagonian mara" doesn't quite have the same ring to it…
The Chevrotain
Like the Patagonian mara, the Chevrotain is also a mouse-hybrid-like creature, commonly called the "mouse-deer." Apparently, mice become much more tolerable and adorable when mixed with other creatures.
