I don't think my dad, in my entire life, has ever even tried to do my hair. Although I can't really blame him, I barely have a grasp on my own hair.
When Greg Wickherst and his wife split up, his two-year-old daughter ended up spending most of her time with her daddy.
Greg, who is bald, didn't really know much about hair. Instead of shirking the important task of primping Izzy's locks, he did something most dads wouldn't do.
It's always nice to see a parent go above and beyond for their kid, like these cool single dads or this awesome mom who encourages her son to dance like no one is watching.
Greg went to cosmetology school. And, judging by the photos in the gallery below, his work certainly paid off!
Single parents, whether they are single fathers or mothers, don't get a whole lot of credit. Playing a dual role in a child's life is not only a challenge, it's often stigmatized by those who don't understand that circumstances in a person's life can change.
Sure, it can take a village to raise one kid, but sometimes it only takes one mom or dad with a big heart.

Meet Greg, a single dad, and his two-year-old daughter, Izzy. Pretty cute, huh?
After Greg and his wife split up, he knew that the way he would have to care for Izzy would change. When he had to do his daughter's hair, he he was clueless! “I saw an area that I was lacking as a parent and wanted to fix it, so I asked for help,” Greg said.
He did something most dads wouldn't do: He went to Cosmetology school. “I work at a college that does Cosmo, so I came up with the idea to ask the program supervisor, Peggy Gunther, to show me some styles. She recommended that I get instruction from her students that were attending," he said.
Soon Greg was doing some pretty elaborate styles on Izzy's hair.
"In no time, I was able to do a simple braid, then a fishbone braid, and a French braid. I learned how to do a ponytail, then flip it through itself either under or over. I call that an inverted ponytail," he told the Huffington Post.

What's more inspiring is that he started a bit of a hairstyling movement amongst dads.
Take a look at how Jorell Domingo was inspired to style his daughter's hair. "I saw your story pop up on my Facebook feed a few days ago. It helped inspire me to step it up for my daughter's Valentine's Day party at school today," Domingo said.
Another dad, Jeff Shennette, said Greg inspired him to step his game up. "I have decent ponytail and bun game, I'm trying to go next level, French braid maybe?"
Greg even started a competition on his blog, "Dad's Guide To Surviving Hair," to see which father could do the most elaborate style. Readers voted and chose Phillippe Morgese and his daughter, pictured below.
The way Greg is getting other dads involved is pretty cool, but how could he not be inspired by this little princess?
