After a horrific car accident nearly three years ago, Katie Breland was left paralyzed from the waist down. At the hospital, doctors said she would never walk again, but she never gave up hope. They told her that exercise was critical to her recovery, so she hired a trainer who had worked with other paraplegics. Around the same time, a former acquaintance Odie Hughes asked to reconnect with her.
Even though she was in a wheelchair, he was her biggest cheerleader. Within three months, they were engaged, and Katie knew she wanted to walk down the aisle at her wedding on her own two feet. On her wedding day, the bride walked down the aisle, on her own two feet. She held the hands of her dad, who stood to her right, and her trainer, Mike Barwis, on her left.
Waiting for her at the end of the aisle with a huge smile was her fiancé. His reaction is heartwarming. Even though she probably felt like there was a lot of pressure, there was no greater reward than getting to the end of that aisle.
