Now this story of how two daughters ended up getting their divorced parents back together is a real-life Lindsay Lohan Parent Trap plot! When COVID-19 hit, exes Julie Shore and Scott Gaede spent a lot of time in the same social bubble due to the pandemic “It was forced proximity,” 54-year-old Julie said in an interview with TODAY.com. “Neither of us were looking forward to spending time together.”
Their daughters, 24-year-old Rachel and 20-year-old Caroline, noted that there were some rough times initially, until they noticed their parents starting to enjoy each other's company.
Their parents split in 2014 after 17 years of marriage. The daughters remember feeling a sense of relief. “There was so much tension and conflict in our house,” Rachel said “After they finally parted ways, we were were like, ‘This is the right move.’”
“The divorce was very contentious for me,” Julie said. But during the lockdown caused by COVID-19, she and Scott were focused on keeping the peace for their daughters' sake, and their individual sanity.

But after a while, the tension eased and things became more manageable. “They were authentically having a good time together, and it wasn’t a show they were putting on for my sister and myself,” Rachel said. “But I don’t think my parents noticed what was happening until late 2021.”
It took Julie a moment to realize that she was falling in love with her ex all over again. "I knew I was laughing a lot more. No one makes me laugh as hard as Scott," she revealed. But after Scott experienced two losses back-to-back, she remembered being there and him and being overcome with emotion.
“Everything from the past fell away and I realized that family was all that mattered and the four of us needed to be together again,” she said. By the end of 2021, they were living together again.
“It was around that time that the girls were like, ‘You need to propose,’” Scott said. And he didn't need a second opinion. In 2022, he proposed to Julie with Rachel and Caroline surrounding them.
The parents tied the knot on December 28, 2023, in an intimate ceremony. Rachel posted a small clip to TikTok sharing their story, which garnered over a million views.
“WAR IS OVERRRRRR,” she wrote on the video. “Our parents are officially REmarried and we are no longer children of divorce. Successful parent trap."
