Dave Grohl Reportedly Retained A Divorce Lawyer Before He Went Public With His Affair

On September 10, 2024, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl revealed that he had welcomed a baby "outside of [his] marriage." In the statement shared on Instagram, he said he loves his family and hopes to earn their forgiveness eventually. At the same time, a source recently told People that prior to Dave's public announcement, he retained a divorce lawyer.

"I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage," the musician wrote in the statement.

He explained that he plans to be involved in his new daughter's life on some level. "I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her," Dave, 55, wrote.

Dave is also dad to three other daughters, Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, whom he shares with his wife, Jordyn Blum.

"I love my wife and my children," Dave continued in his statement, "and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness."

Dave did not share any details about the mother of his new baby. On September 11, an image of his alleged baby began circulating on social media. The image was shared by an Instagram account with the username @valeriegreyson. "my sweet Roxie Junie Grohl, being your mama has already been the most incredible experience of my life," the caption read.

The person writing the post and sharing the photo claimed to be the mom of Dave's baby, but a representative for Dave told TMZ that the post was fake.

TMZ later spoke to the people behind the fake post, and they said it was "a fake page" and that they "just wanted followers."

Dave and his wife, Jordyn, have been married since 2003. In July 2024, just two months before Dave's public revelation, Dave and Jordyn attended London's Wimbledon tennis tournament together.

Shortly after Dave posted about his affair, quotes from previous interviews began circulating, with one in particular making the rounds on social media: Dave previously referred to Jordyn as his "future ex-wife."

The comment was not made recently. He actually called her that the first night they met in 2001 when he was drunk, per the New York Post.

He previously told Q magazine about what happened that night.

"By the end of the night I was pissed and I’m staring at [Jordyn] going, 'You’re my future ex-wife,'" he laughed, according to the New York Post.

Jordyn seemed to be in on the joke at the time though. "So she gave me her number: 'Jordyn, your future ex-wife,'" Dave told the publication at the time.
